We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and oversee all technical aspects
of utility-scale ground-mounted solar projects. This role involves managing external engineering and
design firms, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, and guiding project teams through the full
project lifecycle—from design and construction to technical due diligence. The Engineering Manager
will also provide technical support during procurement activities, helping ensure that purchased
components align with project requirements and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engineering Management & Oversight: Lead the selection of engineering and design firms,
    including consultants for technical studies and design services, ensuring alignment with
    project scope and quality expectations.
  • Standards & Procedures: Develop and implement engineering standards and procedures for
    the design, construction, and operation of ground-mounted solar PV projects.
  • Design Review & Compliance: Review and approve engineering designs, specifications, and
    drawings, ensuring full compliance with local, national, and international regulations.
  • Contract Management: Oversee the engineering scope within project contracts, ensuring
    timely and budget-compliant delivery of all technical milestones and deliverables.
  • Equipment & Material Selection: Guide external engineering teams in selecting appropriate
    equipment and materials for photovoltaic systems to ensure optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Technical Procurement Support: Support the procurement team by providing technical input
    and validation throughout the procurement process.
  • Budget Compliance: Monitor engineering-related expenses and ensure that all technical
    activities remain within the allocated project budget.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with departments such as procurement,
    finance, controlling, and project management to ensure technical alignment with overall
    business objectives.
  • Stakeholder Management: Maintain strong working relationships with external engineering
    consultants, contractors, and suppliers to facilitate seamless coordination.
  • Innovation & Best Practices: Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies in
    photovoltaic engineering, o􀆯ering strategic guidance on innovation and continuous
    improvement.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Qualified Technician, preferable in
    Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    At least 3-5 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on renewable
    energy projects (preferably utility-scale solar plants).

    Familiarity with photovoltaic (PV) system designs, inverters, power distribution,
    transformers, and high-voltage systems.gineering standards and procedures for
    the design, construction, and operation of ground-mounted solar PV projects.
  • Technical skills:
    Strong understanding of electrical codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., BS, NEC,
    IEC, ANSI).

    Proficient with electrical system design software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD)

    Familiarity with SCADA systems and monitoring of electrical plant operations.

    Knowledge of solar energy and associated electrical systems (e.g., PV modules,
    inverters, batteries, and grid integration).

    Full driving license and ability to travel as required.

Job Overview

Management of all aspects of the assigned PV projects throughout its life cycle and ensure that projects are completed on schedule and within budget, while minimizing risks and maximizing margins on a variety of solar energy projects across Europe. The project will be taken over at ready to build stage and will be handed over after commissioning and testing of the asset. The Project Manager will report directly to the Head of Construction.

To strengthen our Engineering team, we are looking for an experienced and dedicated individual to join us as a PROJECT MANAGER.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the engineering team to conduct site investigation and assess the technical feasibility of developing a specific solar PV project.
  • Liaise with the Scheduler & cost controller and Head of Procurement the respective project budget.
  • Work with procurement team to coordinate the sourcing process of all components needed.
  • Manage the EPC and Sub-contract, change orders, and other agreements with Mainsubcontractors and vendors, and oversee all subcontractors’ work in all phases.
  • Maintaining cash-flows of the EPC contract in close collaboration with the scheduler & cost controller.
  • Develop and maintain project timeline in collaboration with the scheduler & cost controller, identify critical path, and key milestones for project’s success.
  • Identify the sources of likely problems and proactively take preventive measures to avoid any potential project risks, and determine response actions to mitigate any negative impact.
  • Coordination with internal Project Finance Team.
  • Performing regular site visits and liaise with the Site Manager of ILOS and the Site Manager of the Main Contractor and other Sub-Contractors.
  • Liaising with Technical Advisors of bank during construction for site visits and acceptanceTesting.

Qualifications

Qualification Proven track record of 5+ years of solar project management experience, including ground mounted projects of +10MWp. Engineering degree or Qualified Technician, preferably in Electrical Engineering. Very good knowledge of National Electrical Codes, other PV system regulations and national construction codes.

  • Act as owner’s on-site representative, ensuring the contractors perform in line with contractual obligations.
  • Supervise and document daily activities, contractor performance, deliveries, and quality assurance.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, check work progress against schedule, identify deviations, and raise NCRs or snag lists where required.
  • Coordinate closely with the client’s internal teams (engineering, quality, HSE, project management).
  • Ensure compliance with Irish regulations, planning permissions, and national electrical standards (IS 10101).
  • Monitor and report on site HSE performance in cooperation with the HSE manager or safety consultants.
  • Support handover processes to asset management and O&M, including site readiness checks and documentation review.
  • Issue weekly site reports, covering progress, risks, weather impact, safety incidents, delivery status, and photographic documentation.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders (DNO, landowners, inspectors, local councils) as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of site-based experience in large-scale solar projects, including >10 MWp ground-mounted installations.
  • Proven track record in client-side supervision or construction oversight roles.
  • Degree or technical qualification in civil or electrical engineering.
  • Familiarity with Irish safety and electrical standards (IS 10101, Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, Construction Regulations 2013).
  • Confident communicator with strong coordination and documentation skills.
